Barnsbury Housing Association was formed in 1967 to increase the provision of low cost affordable housing in Barnsbury, Islington. Our first home was a Georgian terrace in Barnsbury Street, saved from demolition and developed into 30 homes for rent. Our biggest project was a new build scheme of 155 homes on Barnsbury Mews. It was completed on 1974 with most of the funding coming from the Greater London Council. In 1994 we purchased and developed a site for 16 new homes at Barnsbury Park. The scheme has been submitted for a number of awards

BHA bids farewell to Alan!
Sadly, Alan Slater died recently. Those tenants who've been around for a long time may remember Alan. He was one of a group of professional people who started up Barnsbury Housing Association in 1967.
They obtained a grant from the then G.L.C. and converted a run down house in Barnsbury Street into flats. Small beginnings! Then they bought a couple more houses in this north terrace.
